Shape of Things to Come
Can we clear something up, please? It was not Mark Twain who said ,“I didn’t have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead.”
No, that was penned by a French scientist, mathematician, physicist and philosopher who lived only thirty-nine years. That in itself seems like not enough time.
But Blaise Pascal left us a profound concept that has morphed into the memorable phrase, “a God-shaped hole.”
Speaking of man and his emptiness, he wrote, “… this infinite abyss can be filled only with an infinite and immutable object; in other words, by God himself.”
